Befitting producer Martin Scorsese's comprehensive ambitions, this lavish all-star blues concert integrates old footage of Son House and Muddy Waters. Best performances: Odetta belting Lead Belly's "Jim Crow Blues" backed by Dr. John and Levon Helm, and Buddy Guy burning down his friend Jimi Hendrix's "Red House." Biggest train wreck: sublime Hubert Sumlin paired with hammy David Johansen. Glaringly absent: any young performers.
