Drieu is a cop at the end of his career. He's exhausted, broken and burned out. He finds himself transferred to a small, provincial police station destined to be demolished in six months. A lack of professional ethics and disillusionment are the order of the day, which suits the local all-powerful underworld just fine, allowing them to go about their business unhindered.
