Chêne is a renowned coach who has enjoyed a series of professional successes, but he's also a compulsive gambler who has colossal debts. After his wife leaves him and he begins to receive threats from his creditors, Chêne accepts a contract which may save him: his task is to secretly coach Marmignon, a very unusual man who appears to be the worst pupil imaginable.
