For nearly two decades, Jean-Marc Faure (based on the real-life Jean-Claude Romand) led a double-life. He had convinced his family and friends that he was a doctor at the World Health Organization in Geneva, when, in truth, he had no such qualifications nor did he ever actually have a job during that time. When on the brink being exposed, rather than face the shame of his lies, he decided to murder his wife, his children and his parents.
