A tale which begins in Northern England -- a sensitive, enquiring young undertaker, who's about to get married, falls madly in love with an American girl who he meets while at a burial. He decides to go to Los Angeles where she's trying to launch an acting career, and soon finds himself at the mercy of Hollywood hustlers, agents and fast talkers.
