Born into poverty in the 1920s, as a young man Onofre Bouvila moves from the countryside of Spain to Barcelona. There he works as a revolutionary while courting anarchist Delfina. Eventually Onofre is drawn into the world of politics and the Mafia. As he makes his way up the political ladder, he gains power and money while losing his ideals and his loves.
