Katy Perry in The Help?

It’s hard to imagine, but THR reports that in an interview with Teen Vogue, the hugely popular singer let it drop that she was initially supposed to appear in the heavy-hitting Oscar-nominated drama.

“There was a time when I was going to be involved in The Help, … just a small part, I wasn’t going to be Emma Stone or anything, but I couldn’t because the shooting schedule conflicted with the release of my record.”

Situations like this often arise, where one component of a film could have been vastly different, as when Radiohead was supposed to have done the soundtrack for Fight Club, and while the end product in both cases is very good, you can’t help but think about what could have been. Katy Perry’s own 3D film Part of Me will be released July 5th.
