Juha and Marja are happily married, and live a bucolic and simple life on a farm. But when city man Shemeikka arrives, asking for help with his broken-down car, he sets about seducing Marja. She leaves her husband, but is soon placed in a brothel by the evil Shemeikka. Juha searches for her, determined to get revenge.
