The Stilwin family is vacationing on a deserted Mexican beach when tragedy strikes. On an innocent walk along the beach, young Doug Stilwin gets his leg trapped under a heavy pile of logs that falls onto the beach from a rotten jetty. Unable to free him and knowing that high tide will come and drown him, his mother sets off in the family car to find help. Instead she comes across an escaped convict who takes her hostage as her son fights a race against time.
