Film.com's FREE movie of the week is "Love the Hard Way." Oscar-winner Adrien Brody and Charlotte Ayanna star in this drama about a thief who falls for a curious, beautiful young woman. As their intimacy grows, a slick cop (Pam Greer) is closing in.
A tour through contemporary American crime fiction novelist James Ellroy's Los Angeles--guided by the prince of L.A. noir himself. As he visits the scenes of infamous crimes of the 40s and 50s, he discusses his inspirations and impeccable research for his various novels such as "The Black Dahlia," "The Big Nowhere" and "L.A. Confidential." Ellroy's tour takes a personal bent as he draws parallels between the infamous unsolved dismemberment of the 22-year-old Hollywood hopeful known as the "Black Dahlia" and the brutal, unsolved murder of his own mother when he was only 10-years-old. Candidly the author speaks about his days of alcoholism, golf caddying and his eventual move from a Los Angeles he can no longer write about.
