synopsis
A psychological crime thriller which follows a sleep-deprived homicide detective as he investigates the brutal murder of a teenage girl in Northern Norway. A second murder intensifies the pursuit and prompts the policeman to take some of the same risks as the man they are hunting.

Al Pacino plays a cop who can't sleep, which gives the advantage to the killer (Robin Williams) he's chasing across the frozen tundra. Director Christopher Nolan follows Memento with another suspense triumph that brings out the best in Pacino and Williams. I'd hoped that extras would illuminate the striking differences between the 1997 Norwegian version of Insomnia (Criterion) and this haunting remake.
