synopsis
The life story of Freida Belinfante, a Jewish lesbian musician living in the Netherlands during World War II. Working with the resistance against German occupation, Belinfante narrowly escaped death several times. After the war she moved to the United States where she led the Orange County, California Philharmonic for a few years before losing her job. Not given the opportunity to conduct again until late in her life, Belinfante died in 1995.
