The armistice of the 8th of September 1943, during which Italy betrays Germany and sides with the allied forces. A group of 16 Italian - Greek Jews are relocated to The Meina Hotel on Lake Maggiore, run by the Benars, a family of Turkish Jews. Doubts about their future are subdued by the light-heartiness of the two youngsters Noa and Julien. Through this group of 16 prisoners we get a glimpse inside the first Italian Nazi massacre of Jewish prisoners.
