Film.com's FREE movie of the week is "Love the Hard Way." Oscar-winner Adrien Brody and Charlotte Ayanna star in this drama about a thief who falls for a curious, beautiful young woman. As their intimacy grows, a slick cop (Pam Greer) is closing in.
Musician/documentarian Joshua Waletzky's profile on noted soundtracks, of ten box-office hits released between 1935 and 1948, posits that the sweeping orchestral scores that dominated Hollywood's so-called Golden Age shouldn't be looked upon as poor relations to "real" music; but instead, these unforgettable scores should be evaluated and appreciated as an integral contribution to the screen classics. Waletzky intermingles scenes of the BBC National Orchestra of Whales at work, intercut with vintage film clips, and enlightening commentary from musicians, musicologists, and technicians to support his conclusions.
