Olga is a Russian girl who has run away from home to search for her estranged father, a sea captain. She had believed that her father was in Istanbul, but learns that he has moved on to Sydney. While she looks for money to get to Australia, she gets into trouble. Nasuhi finds Olga in dire straits, and asks her to join him and Selim. Together these three strike out for the Aegean town Nasuhi abandoned 50 years ago. The olive garden and the rock house that Selim has inherited is the only home Nasuhi has on the face of the earth. For Selim it is the only fortune he has to resettle with in the States. Selim has to make a decision either to sell his inheritance in Turkey, or leave it to Nasuhi, who deeply needs the house.
