Torsten is a loner, a 43-year old virgin who teaches in a country school. He has a crush on Berit, who works in the local supermarket and is herself having an affair with Glenn, the husband of a co-worker. When Torsten drunkenly confesses his love one night, she runs off, but is later raped by Glenn. When news of the rape spreads, Torsten finds himself under suspicion.
