Happy Feet Two Ruins Christmas for Everyone
Amanda Mae Meyncke November 28, 2011

I hope you’re pleased with yourself. You were supposed to go see a movie about dancing penguins this month, and you didn’t. Not only you, but none of your friends or family went either. Because Happy Feet Two has pretty much failed at the box office, the Australian-based company behind the film will lay off over 600 people, according to Deadline.
The dancing penguin movie went nearly 50 million over budget, and failed to meet box-office expectations set by the first feature, Happy Feet, which won the 2006 Oscar for Best Animated Feature. Not even endless advertising by Warner Brothers could save this little film from the global warming of audience indifference.
Let’s all just keep in mind that going to the movies isn’t a fun task, but we have to, or the entire world economy will continue to collapse at an even greater rate. This could become the absolute latest word in movie advertising: ads showing the faces of those who will be fired if you don’t go see the new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie.
