synopsis
Marcus has always known he was going to be a rapper, but when his mother is murdered, he turns to dealing--hustling drugs pays the rent. Get Rich or Die Tryin' is a rather poor imitation of 8 Mile--and not even the Oscar-nominated director Jim Sheridan could turn rapper 50 Cent into an actor.

Rapping as 50 Cent, Curtis Jackson is a hip-hop king. But acting out a fictionalized, sanitized version of his life in Get Rich or Die Tryin', Jackson loses his throne. The emotions Eminem brought to 8 Mile are buried in Jackson's stubborn impassivity as Marcus, an orphan of the drug wars.
