Two young women, Marina and Prune, each with her own particular problems, start up a friendship on the Paris-Lisbon train. They become roomates in Lisbon and spend hours telling their life stories to one another. When Prune accidentally drowns during a midnight swim, Marina--already fleeing from her older lover's accidental death--decides to take on Prune's identity.
