synopsis
In this prequel to "The Flintstones" (USA/1994), Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble, recent graduates of the Bronto Crane Academy, have just landed jobs at the local rock quarry in Bedrock, and life couldn't be better. Meanwhile, life couldn't be worse for beautiful young heiress Wilma Slaghoople, whose social-climbing parents intend her to marry the suave but boring Chip Rockefeller, so she runs away from home. In Bedrock, Wilma meets Betty O'Shale and the two become fast friends, residing at Melrock Place and working at the local Bronto King. Following a disastrous first date, Fred falls head over heels for Wilma, while Barney and Betty become inseparable. Leaving puppy Dino behind, Fred and Barney -- along with a green alien from outerspace, the Great Gazoo -- whisk the girls away for a romantic weekend in Rock Vegas. But Chip, with the help of a devious showgirl, has other plans in mind.

Once these questions are answered, however, there's not much else to see. Despite the vivid sets and clever prehistoric gadgetry, the movie is yabba-dabba-yawn.

Acting

The cast is likable all around, but transforming a cartoon into a live-action remake… Continued
