Film.com's FREE movie of the week is "Love the Hard Way." Oscar-winner Adrien Brody and Charlotte Ayanna star in this drama about a thief who falls for a curious, beautiful young woman. As their intimacy grows, a slick cop (Pam Greer) is closing in.
Two European Jews who survived Nazism revisit Europe for a tour of their past. Seventy-seven-year-old Jan Wiener and seventy-two-year-old Arnost Lustig escaped concentration camps and managed to flee Europe, but only after losing their families. Now the two men return to visit the Czech Republic in an attempt to make peace with their difficult pasts. Their journey takes them from Prague to the south of Italy, and along the way the two men regale each other with thrilling exploits, scenes of romance and humor, of narrow escapes and life-or-death confrontations. As they journey to the scene of Jan Wiener's escape from the Nazis, tempers flare and emotions boil over: the men argue, philosophize and drink. Their precarious friendship is brought to the point of collapse and yet there is a thread of compassion that runs through their encounters.
