Lonely and depressed since the death of his wife Bibiana three years earlier, Federmann spends his days driving the streets of Berlin and his nights at the local pub. Although bartender Dora obviously likes him, Federmann can not bring himself to connect with her. Finally, Federmann's emotional wall comes crumbling down when he's involved in a car accident with a young mute boy.
