Romance novelist Kate is desperately trying to get pregnant. On the same day that she finds out that her husband Rob has run off with one of his students, she has a car crash with a loudmouthed car dealer named Dave, who just happens to be the husband of Rob's lover. Thrown together by circumstance, Kate and Dave quickly overcome their initial animosity while Kate's maternal desires turn frantic as the new century approaches.
