Consumer advocate Tomas Stockman returns to his hometown to oversee the bottling of the region’s mineral water. Tomas discovers that the water is contaminated, but his brother Peter, who runs the water works, is adamant that his brother remain tight lipped. Tomas reveals the news, offending the locals in the process, who view the water as their main source of income, and incurs the wrath of Peter.
