When 11-year-old Emil travels to Berlin his money is stolen. While following the thief, Emil runs into Pony, the head of a gang who offers to help. One of the gang members takes his place at the local pastor's house, where he is meant to be staying. When Pony falls into the hands of the thief, a daring adventure ensues.
