Two lifelong friends meet after a lengthy estrangement. In flashback, we see their lives. Risk-taking Doria and sensible Rossell both love music and Teresa. In the mid-1930s, they must both make choices about what to do when civil war comes. Rossell and Teresa make one choice, Doria another. These choices influence the course of the rest of their lives, and split the friends apart.
