Dumb and Dumber 2 In The Works?

Turns out the Farrelly brothers have been working on a Dumb and Dumber sequel for some time now, though slightly under the radar. Now, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that they’re getting close to a shoot date for the film.

Peter Farrelly dropped a Twitter-imploding bombshell in the middle of a Three Stooges press junket. “We’re getting set to shoot Dumb and Dumber 2 in September,” the director told ComingSoon.net. “We’ve got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back.” Farrelly may have jumped the gun a little bit — a source close to the production tells EW that the film is “moving along, but it’s not greenlit yet.”

Well, it’s been nearly twenty years since the original film hit theaters. Is Jim Carrey still able to pull in audiences? What about Jeff Daniels? A Dumb and Dumber sequel feels worn out already, a film so reliably bad that we can imagine the travesty before ever needing to see it for ourselves. But here’s hoping.
