synopsis
The continuing tale of the doctor who can talk to the animals--this time, it's Dolittle versus Darwin when the animals launch a labor strike to protect their forest from unscrupulous human developers. Dolittle quickly comes up with a plan: populate the forest with a species of animal that the law protects. He finds a perfect candidate when he comes across Ava, a lone Pacific Western bear living in the condemned forest. To provide her with a mate, Dolittle turns to Archie, a wise-cracking, fast-food loving, circus performing bear. Can Dolittle play matchmaker to these two mismatched bears before its too late?

Eddie Murphy reprises his 1998 role as Dr. Dolittle, a San Francisco doctor who can talk to animals. This sequel is appropriate for kids, packing in a few good laughs and a politically correct lesson on wildlife preservation.

Dr. Dolittle 2 is, well, you know what it is: a fast, fat paycheck for star Eddie Murphy. The original 1998 film grossed $144 million by having Murphy play a doctor who talks to his critter patients, who squeak and squawk and fart prodigiously in return. This time Murphy is back with more alleged family fun, playing matchmaker for two bears, voiced by Steve Zahn and Lisa Kudrow, and trying to save their forest habitat. Kill me now!
