Jimmy Ray and Billy Joe Stevens are siblings in a rockabilly band. When Billy Joe is killed by a greaser while trying to protect his brother, Jimmy Ray is so distraught that he gives up music for the bottle. Forty years later, he is now a quiet, bitter alcoholic who refuses to attend the concerts of his sons, who are now following in the footsteps of their dad, burning up the local Texas music scene. Although estranged, a commemorative event beings Jimmy Ray back to the music scene and his sons.
