Annie returns after ten years in prison for killing her lover Marco and regains custody of her daughter Sophie who wants nothing to do with her. Marco's mother also rejects Annie, who becomes disturbed, confusing past and present. Returning to the place where the murder happened, Annie finds that she is still imprisoned by the condemnation of those who refuse to forgive her, or forget.
