A group of Australian dags, or uncouth suburbanites, go through a series of life crises. Cheryl is engaged to pothead Daryl, but thinks maybe she can do better. After she is kidnapped in a faked robbery, she falls for her rescuer Kevin. Meanwhile, Tina is having an affair with her best friend's boyfriend, and an anthropologist is studying the group, seeing suburban mallrats as a foreign and exotic group.
