A little boy named Martin is faced with a problem when his mother dies unexpectedly. Fearing that he will be placed in an orphanage, Martin decides to keep her death a secret. Enlisting the aid of a few friends, the children line a grandfather clock with tin-foil and use it as a casket, secretly burying her. The children then band together, using their ingenuity to help Martin get by.
