Twelve women return to the South African boarding school they attended in their youth to swap stories about their years on the school's elite swim team. However, the memories conjured up at the reunion are far from happy: the absence of a thirteenth girl--the thirteenth member of the team--is glaringly obvious, and the women must finally address the terrible secret they have kept for so many years.
