A portrait of Maria Elena Moyano, a Peruvian community leader at the forefront of the women's movement during the political turmoil that engulfed Peru in the 1980s. As the director of the Women's Federation of Villa El Salvador, Moyano was marked for murder by the Shining Path for refusing to surrender to their control. Her murder led to a vast outpouring of protest from many different organisations and ordinary people.
