A young black writer named Keneiloe is trying to make sense of the issues that have become central to contemporary urban reality, including war, exile, and displacement. Keneiloe strikes up a tentative friendship with Fatima Hersi, a Somalian refugee living in inner-city Johannesburg, who agrees to meet him every Sunday to tell him the story of her tragic life. Soon after, Fatima disappears, prompting Keneiloe to embark on a frantic search for her through Johannesburg's gritty refugee underworld.
