Leo was born in an orphanage for orang-utans that his father founded in Borneo. He lives there his whole life until he is 25 and his father dies. The Indonesians take back the space and he is left alone. He buys a ticket to France, to the "civilisation" he has never seen, where his idealistic view of the worl is confronted with the values of contemporary Europe.
