Welcome to Your Daily Short, a new feature on Film.com that will highlight and stream a short film at high noon. Every weekday. Every week.
TODAY’S SHORT: “World Cinema” (Ethan & Joel Coen) 2007
RUNNING TIME: 3:19
WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH IT: In 2007, the venerable brothers Coen participated in an omnibus called “Chacun son Cinema” (To Each His Own Cinema), a collaborative project that invited a mess of esteemed filmmakers to celebrate their beloved medium however they saw fit. Unsurprisingly, the Coens’ short contribution is a highlight (of both the film and your time on this mortal coil). Josh Brolin plays a rugged rancher-type named Dan who decides to spend an afternoon at an art house cinema, and … well, simple pleasures ensue.
P.S. If you haven’t seen “Climates” (or “The Rules of the Game,” for that matter), Dan’s review is mighty accurate.
Do you have a favorite short film that you would like us to feature as Your Daily Short? Whether it’s something you love, something you made, or both, send it along to Filmdotcomshorts@Gmail.com and you might see it on the site!
