Set in the colorful world of the Los Angeles music scene, Kennedy Johnson wants nothing more than to be a musician. He's 22, and his band seems poised to make the leap from small-change gigs to the trendy clubs along Sunset Strip. From there, he figures a record deal is in the bag, and his days as a waiter will be a little more than a sullen memory. But there's an off-key note in Kennedy's plan: his brother, King, the band's manager, is a ne'er-do-well whose carelessness could cost Kennedy everything he has worked for.
