Gloria Hernandez is a smart, somewhat cynical homicide detective, trying to do the best job she is capable of in a profession that breaks down the hardest personalities. She knows something is odd when she investigates the double homicide of lovers Erich Bratton and Karen Kristoferson. Janie Holtz, an employee and another lover of Bratton's, has confessed to the crime. Hernandez, who has had first hand experience with cold-blooded killers, is not convinced Janie is responsible for the grisly murders.
