A wounded hitman stumbles into a Tokyo apartment block and collapses. Various inhabitants are introduced, all suffering from some kind of loneliness and urban pressure. The Shibuyas are a young married couple suffering from boredom, while old Mrs Okubo screams just so that people will know she is alive. One neighbor is being stalked, and another is a depressed Japanese American girl with a party girl mother. Things come to a head when the hitman wakes up.
