Sandra Thomas is driving to meet her sister Alice when her car is forced off the road. She accepts a lift from a passer-by, Jake, who is obsessed with the workings of chance. That night, they meet the man who ran her car off the road and discover him to be Santini, a con-man. But Jake may also be none too trustworthy.
