synopsis
A new intake of clients arrives at a grey transit station in an uncertain location. This is the gateway to the afterlife and all of the new arrivals are recently deceased. They are interviewed individually, and must select one memory to take with them into eternity; all the others will be erased. Various characters -- a teenage girl, a punk, a World War II veteran, an old lady -- are given a week to make up their minds. The memory will then be reconstructed, acted out and filmed, so the recipient will have a tape to keep. The choices range from the recent to wartime, and comment on both Japanese history and questions of love and loss.
