Released: April 20th

Studio: Rogue Pictures

Rating: R

Running Time: 121 Minutes

Why: Hot Fuzz is a ton of fun. It’s not exactly a spoof on buddy cop movies, it’s more of an homage that’s crazy hilarious too. There are some astonishing moments that bridge the gap between comedy and gore quite nicely. The perfect Friday night popcorn flick, trust me.

Would Have Been Rated Higher If: The first 45 minutes are a little slow. Given this is the fifth best film of 2007 so far that should tell you how kick-ass the rest of the movie is. Cargill wrote about his affection for the folks behind this movie here.

Critical Love: This was beloved by my brethren. A lofty 90% on RT. Our pals at Metacritic have it at 81. Very nice numbers for an uber violent film.

Box Office: $77m. Director Edgar Wright knocked this one out of the park because it was a low budget special. An effective PR campaign and rabid fans have made Edgar a hot commodity.

DVD Info: July 31st. Rent or buy it then. After that, send me a thank you note.
