synopsis
The clock is ticking on Monty Brogan's freedom--in 24 hours he goes to prison for seven long years. Once a king of Manhattan, Monty is about to say goodbye to the life he knew--a life that opened doors in New York's swankiest clubs but also alienated him from the people closest to him. In his last day on the outside, Monty tries to reconnect with with his father, who's never given up on his son, and gets together with his two closest friends from the old days, Jacob and Slaughtery. Also in the mix is his girlfriend, Naturelle, who (or might not) have been the one who tipped off the cops. Monty's not sure of much these days. But with time running out, there are a lot of choices to be made.

Damn near lost in the rush of holiday releases, 25th Hour is a riveting, emotionally resonant New York drama about mostly Irish white guys. Strange turf for Spike Lee, who still manages to do the right thing by trusting the wildly ambitious script that David Benioff has adapted from his own novel. Lee is firing on all cylinders, and the actors match his energy. Edward Norton is dynamite as Brooklyn drug dealer Monty Brogan, a felon filling his last hours before going to prison for seven years.…
A drug dealer has just 24 hours before he has to go to prison for seven years. This is the story of those hours and how he chooses to spend them. Story In 25th Hour's prologue, good-looking, intelligent Monty Brogan (Ed Norton) rescues a dog that's been severely injured in a fight and left to die, taking it in and making it his closest companion.
