I have mixed feelings about the next Indiana Jones installment, mainly because I think they waited too long to get it going and because Ford has fallen out of my favor with a string of crappy movies. Having said that, I'm not sure Spielberg, Lucas, (screenwriter) Koepp and Ford can screw this thing up to the point where it isn't going to at least be an entertaining ride. But consider my interest substantially risen with the reported casting of probably my favorite working actress, Cate Blanchett. I'm going to assume she's playing the love interest, possibly mother to Shia LaBeouf (rumored to be playing Indy Jr.). Word is the film will go into production on June 18.

In other casting news, Maggie Gyllenhaal's replacing of Katie Holmes in the next Batman film is a vast improvement. No disrespect meant to Mrs. Cruise, she's cute as a button. But Gyllenhaal's a much better actress. Okay, now I disrespected her.

Leo DiCaprio's bodyguards were arrested last week in Jerusalem after they got into a scuffle with some paparazzi who got too close to the Titanic star and his girlfriend, Israeli model Bar Rafaeli. Why is he "up" this week? Well ... he's dating Israeli model Bar Rafaeli. I used to date Bar, so it's no biggie to me. Of course, we were in kindergarten back then and it lasted about a day (I gave her one of my Oreo cookies), but it was eight hours of absolute magic. Of course, I don't remember anyone from kindergarten so I could be mistaken. I do remember liking the taste of paste, though.

Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's latest film, Grindhouse, may be headed for some trouble with those wonderfully warm and friendly people over at the MPAA due to the intentionally graphic nature of the film. The NC-17 rating is the box-office deathblow, and I don't see the Weinsteins putting up with it unless they have some real cutting-edge campaign at their disposal. We'll have to see how this little situation develops.

Finally, I feel like this story is a little incomplete, but it looks like there is at least an outside chance that the new Simpsons movie will not be dubbed with the same Mexican voice-actors the popular television series has been dubbed by for over 15 years. Now, I like my Homer as voiced by Castellaneta, but I can tell you that most Latino people I talk to agree that the Mexican actors' dubbing of the program is even better. It's hard to believe, but this is what I've been told time and again. Regardless of which is better, it's at least clear the Latino community will be seriously disappointed if the same actors do not dub the film. Fox, do the right thing and make sure nothing changes when the film is released this summer.
