What2Watch: Project Runway Taxis Toward Fashion Week

But first, the final six designers are tasked with designing outfits for WWE wrestlers. What a smackdown!

Project Runway took a break last week, as the show works to time its final few episodes for Fashion Week, which is currently taking place. Tonight (Bravo, 10 PM) this most female-friendly of reality shows gets an injection of testosterone when the final six design for the ladies of the WWE.

I was among those who thought this season got off to an iffy start. The designers seemed to be the usual mix of talents and hacks, but except for the flamboyant Christian, the personalities took a long time to establish themselves, and there was no obvious antagonist along the lines of Wendy Pepper. But in time, the season has taken shape, and all of the final six have revealed their own characteristic work habits and personality quirks. The three obvious frontrunners can all be seen as potential winners, but all have also displayed flaws that could send them packing at any time. Christian Siriano is phenomenally talented, but is so arrogant he occasionally zips through the task without second thoughts. Rami Kashou has one style he likes to pound over and over again, even though the judges are beginning to complain about it. Jillian Lewis is high-strung and ambitious to a fault. Fashion Week should be fun, but we have to get through tonight first. And please, do something about Ricky.

America's Next Top Model (CW, 8 PM): Killing time until the tenth cycle begins, we get a recap of cycles one through nine. These reminiscences are always awkward since this show goes to greater lengths than most to deny its first winner ever existed. Of course, anyone who really wants an update on Adrianne Curry can always watch VH1 or pick up Playboy.

American Idol (Fox, 8 PM): An hour of previously unseen standout auditions (both good and bad) from various cities. Expect milking of lousy singers, since after tonight the competition gets serious. Unless Sanjaya comes out of retirement, that is.

My Shocking Story (TLC, 8 PM): A 51-year-old Portuguese man is dealing with a huge growth on his face. These are typically poignant hours of television, but you would never know it from tabloid-style episode titles like "The Man With No Face" and the all-time classic, "Half Man, Half Tree."

Wife Swap (ABC, 8 PM): A woman whose husband dotes on her swaps into the family of a truck puller who treats his wife like a possession. Truck pulling is an actual job description now?

Ghost Hunters International (SciFi, 9 PM): The hunters look into a possibly haunted fortress in (cue eerie music) Transylvania.

Mythbusters (Discovery, 9 PM): How well do those cool James Bond gadgets really work? The Mythbusters will tell us.

Supernanny (ABC, 9 PM): The Dostals have a son who is a handful, but Jo Frost realizes the real problem here is the marriage itself. It can't help that the husband looks uncannily like Simon Cowell.

In Treatment (HBO, 9:30): Sophie spent her first week denying that she even needed therapy, but is now unloading about issues with her folks and her gymnastics teammates. When first discussing this show, I neglected to single out actress Mia Wasikowska, a real find as Sophie.

Cashmere Mafia (ABC, 10 PM): After raising expectations that this show might be a little outside the norm by involving Caitlin with a woman, it appears that she's decided she's into boys after all. I haven't bought that Caitlin and Alicia have any chemistry so in that sense it isn't too surprising, but why go there in the first place? Also, Zoe tries to find time to celebrate her anniversary, and has her first face-to-face meeting with the teleconference buddy known as her "work husband."

CSI: NY (CBS, 10 PM): A season finale: Someone drowns in a self-cleaning restroom; the CSIs look into it and determine it's not an accident. I don't even want to know how one drowns in a restroom.

Law & Order (NBC, 10 PM): Detectives Green and Lupo go undercover to find the perpetrator of a deadly hit-and-run. Is this show going somewhere with this business about Lupo's sister-in-law?

UFO Hunters (History, 10 PM): The team investigates a 1990 plane crash off Catalina Island that the plane's pilot blamed on something under the water that froze his controls. This program's debut last week proved to be just a bit light in the proof department.

Reno 911! (Comedy, 10:30 PM): Reno's mayor visits the squad, which is certainly gross enough to be a major campaign issue.

The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 11:30 PM): Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning is the primary guest. Friends, he's a championship athlete from New York. Get used to seeing him on the tube.
