This Week's Heroes Highlights: When Will Heroes Get Mmm, Mmmm Good Again?
Matt meets his dad, Maury; Mohinder gives up Molly; Monica and Micah bond. Episode grade: mediocre.

Chapter Five, "Fight or Flight": Mohinder and Matt bicker over Molly's semi comatose little body. These guys are so cute when they get all domestic and parental. After the bickering, Nathan meets up with Matt and they head to Philly to get Matt's dad Maury out of Molly's head. This doesn't go real well. Copycat Monica -- this episode of Heroes has been brought to you by the letter M -- decides her destiny is to be a Hero with Micah. They bond in ways that include hugging and double-dutch jump roping, and it's more so-cuteness. Sweet. Veronica Mars shows up in Ireland looking for Peter, who has opened the mysterious box: it contains next to nothing of interest. I mean, we've been waiting five episodes, and all we get is a plane ticket to Montreal? There should have at least been a severed body part of some kind. There should have been some kind of hint as to how Peter encountered Veronica Mars before. We know he did because her power is shooting lightning from her fingertips, which Peter can do now, too, so he obviously absorbed that from her. Peter goes into an Isaac Mendez trance and paints a scene from next week's episode. I'm not sure that requires a power, actually: he's probably read the script already, after all. Oh, and Veronica Mars fries Irish Girl's criminal brother to a crisp. You want vinegar with that? There's too much treading water in this episode, and the episode knows it. While Ando gets scientific help to read some of Hiro's scrolls from the past that have deteriorated. We get just a few snippets of Hiro in feudal Japan, mostly Kensei and the Pretty Japanese Girl holding hands, which is cute and sweet but pointless. When the scientist tells Ando it's gonna take some time to decipher these old scrolls -- I'm guessing at least two more episodes -- Ando demands to know now what's gonna happen next with Hiro. Just like the rest of us are doing, too. Worst bit in the episode: Mr. Bennet and the Haitian walk around in front of green screen Russia. Best bit: Maury imprisons Matt and Nathan in their own minds: Nathan thinks he's stuck in a devastated NYC from last season and Matt is locked in a dingy prison cell. Nathan fights Burned Nathan; Matt fights a jail guard; and it turns out they're really fighting each other. Whoa. For a smart guy, Mohinder is pretty dumb: he brings the still-out-of-it Molly in to The Company, and into the slimy hands of his Creepy Boss Guy. Then Mohinder tasers Nikki (well, actually, Jessica on a rampage) after being appalled by the idea of tasering, and later goes to New Orleans to collect Monica and never even asks how anyone knows about her burgeoning power. Perhaps Creepy Boss Guy has been reading the script, too. Next week: Peter and Irish Girl head to -- surprise! -- Montreal; Mohinder experiments on Heroes after he rails about how wrong it is; and Sylar is back! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-MaryAnn Johanson (email me) reviews, reviews, reviews! at FlickFilosopher.com Most Popular Stories
