The Verdict: The Dude and the Coens, Together Again? And a Trailer for Star Tours II

Plus the Comedian joins Red Dawn, Guillermo Del Toro heads for animation, and Matt Damon comes clean.

Jeff Bridges May Saddle Up with the Coens
Bridges is in talks to join up with the Coen brothers in their remake of True Grit, the 1969 John Wayne Western about a teenage girl and the U.S. marshal tracking her father's murderer. The last time this dream team got together was in 1998's The Big Lebowski, one of the best movies any of them ever made.
Verdict: I haven't actually seen the original (I had it confused with the newspaper Richie Rich tried to bully me into selling when I was 7). But anything that gets this crew back together sounds good in my book.

Star Tours II Teaser Trailer Leaks Online
Remember when Star Tours was the mind-blowing new ride at Disneyland? That was in 1987. It's still trucking, but Disney recently announced that it's being decommissioned in 2010. Sad news, yes; but Star Tours II, in 3-D, is set to debut in 2011. The teaser trailer that was screened at the D23 Disney convention just surfaced on YouTube, and even though it looks good, it's all Episode I. Remember those podracers? Yaaaay.
Verdict: Let's just hope this doesn't mean Captain Eo's coming back. Nobody wants that. (Oh, snap.)

Jeffrey Dean Morgan in Talks for Red Dawn
Best known as Watchmen's Comedian, Morgan is in final negotiations for the reboot of the 1984 camp classic that brought the world "Wolverriiines!" (And, incidentally, starred Patrick Swayze, R.I.P.) Morgan is looking at the role of the special forces officer who finds the teenage terrorists deep in occupied territory.
Verdict: There's nothing much to like about remaking Red Dawn. (Maybe Lea Thompson will come back? I've got nothing.) But Morgan was a great Comedian, and maybe he can do something decent with the polished pile this is likely to be.

Del Toro and Disney Team Up
Guillermo del Toro, the Mexican director behind Pan's Labyrinth and the Hellboys, will produce for Disney under a new label aimed at delivering darker animated features.
Verdict: Del Toro is really good at dark. And Disney is really good at animation. Let's say I'm cautiously optimistic, though there's plenty of room for Disney to step in and mess it up with singing teapots and princess dresses.

Damon Comes Clean
Outside the studio where he was filming The Daily Show, Matt Damon was signing autographs when a fawning paparazzo said, "You've never made a bad movie in your life!" Damon's answer? "That's bullsh*t."
Verdict: Finally, some honesty from a star! And one who doesn't have nearly as many bombs on his IMDb page as most, as long as you overlook The Legend of Bagger Vance. And All the Pretty Horses. And Gerry. OK, fine.
