The Verdict: Batman's Not Up Next for Nolan, but Green Lantern and Veronica Mars May Be on Track

Plus, the Wachowski brothers pick a hero and SNL's class of '90 together again. Finally.

Still No Word on Batman, but Christopher Nolan Has a New Project
The Dark Knight director is the hottest property in Hollywood, and Warner Bros. just locked him up to direct and co-produce Inception, from his own script. The new movie is a science-fiction action story set within the mind, which sounds perfectly passable. But more importantly, Nolan still hasn't signed on for the next Batman.
Verdict: I've liked everything of Nolan's I've seen, and the mind games premise sounds reminiscent of Memento, one of his best. But with Inception set to come out in 2010, what does that mean for Bruce Wayne post-Dark Knight? Are we looking at 2012, or a new director?

Green Lantern Might Be a Go ... Again
The on-again, off-again hero spectacular, which Warners is hoping will jump-start another big-money franchise, may have some good news: Martin Campbell, who directed Casino Royale and Goldeneye, is in talks to take on the ringed crusader.
Verdict: GL is a great character, Casino Royale was a great movie, and Goldeneye was easily the best Brosnan Bond. Sign me up.

Veronica Mars Movie "Close"
Entertainment Weekly reports that Kristen Bell's high-school detective series may finally be headed to the big screen. Show creator Rob Thomas is pitching the film this week, centered on Veronica tackling a case in college.
Verdict: I wasn't one of the Mars faithful, though it seemed like a smart show. And remember how happy the Firefly fans were when Serenity wrapped up all those loose ends? By the way, when I say "Firefly fans," I mean "me."

Wachowski Brothers: Plastic Man or Man of Steel?
Over at Ain't It Cool News the rumor mill is in full spin with rumblings that the men behind The Matrixes (and, um, Speed Racer) are deciding whether their next project will be Plastic Man or a Supes reboot, since Superman Returns director Bryan Singer has refused to start over.
Verdict: With Plastic Man the temptation to go glossy-silly-cheesy could be strong, and we've seen them fall into that trap before. Hopefully they'll take on Superman, who could really use a good kick in the cape. Rule one: no cheesy Marlon Brando Jor-El footage.

Finally, the Long-Awaited Saturday Night Live Reunion
... of Adam Sandler, David Spade, Rob Schneider, and Chris Rock. If you leave out Rock's concert films, the movies these guys make are dismal. Then throw in Kevin James to round out the crew, and this "high concept" story of five high-school friends reunited smells like failure. (Ha! Round out! Get it? Now you know the premise of Paul Blart: Mall Cop).
Verdict: This is like the Olympics of mediocrity. And it'll make a gajillion dollars.
