Plus, Ridley Scott is set to direct an adaptation of Monopoly. Huh?

Arrested Development Movie Is ON! (Almost)
Rumors have been floating about this one since, more or less, the day the show was canceled. But now Variety is reporting that creator Mitch Hurwitz is "close to a deal." Does this even qualify as news? I don't know, but I'm so excited by the idea that I'll take anything I can get.
Verdict: This one's at the top of my wish list, let's hope for a Christmas miracle.

Ridley Scott to Direct ... Monopoly?
This sounds like a hoax, but The Hollywood Reporter says Scott has been confirmed on the adaptation of the board game (h/t /Film). This is such a terrible idea that I don't know where to start. And, turns out adaptations of Ouija Board and Battleship are already on the way.
Verdict: It has been done before (anybody remember Clue?), but come on -- Ridley Scott? "Hasbro, you sank my battleship. And by battleship I mean career."

Summit Announces Twilight Sequel
In other news, the sky is blue and dogs are afraid of thunder.
Verdict: I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you. Just because the movie was dull and over-hyped doesn't mean it isn't going to make more money than Canada's military budget. We're going to be stuck with this series for a while.

Vin Diesel to Star in xXx 3: Seriously, Are We Really Doing This?
Diesel and the director of the first xXx, who both bailed on the first sequel, are signed on for The Return of Xander Cage. Finally, back to the winning formula that made xXx one of the worst movies of 2002.
Verdict: Hey, why not make another Chronicles of Riddick while you're at it? Then we can all not see that movie too.

Warner Brothers Sews Up Rights to Captain Marvel
Yet another caped crusader is heading to the screen: Captain Marvel, the superhero alter ego of a kid who's chosen to fight for good by a wizard. The magic word that turns him into Marvel? "Shazam."
Verdict: Meh. The cheesy seventies TV is good for a laugh, but the whole "Shazam" thing gets dumber every time you hear it. If this thing even gets made, I won't be in line.

Astro Boy Trailer Goes Live
Moviefone recently posted the first trailer for the CG-animated feature that updates Japan's original anime robot hero (h/t Cinematical). It's just a teaser, a thirty-second intro to the character, but it looks amazing.
Verdict: I'm not one of the Astro Boy faithful, and this wasn't even on my radar. It is now.
